This collection contains the manuscript draft of the American Civil War reminiscences of Herman Haupt, who served as the chief of construction and transportation for the military railroad system for the Union Army. It includes Civil War correspondence, telegraph messages, reports, and general orders (originals and typescript copies). Among the correspondence is a letter from Robert Todd Lincoln.

Spanning 1861 to 1971, The Robert Selph Henry Papers consist of correspondence, subject files, photographs, and clippings concerning Henry's research on the Civil War, focusing on the Confederacy and Nathan Bedford Forrest, and also railroad history. This collection also contains Henry's Southern Historical Association (SHA) and Association of American Railroads papers.

This collection consists of journals, notebooks, scrapbooks, and letter copy books of Thomas Robinson Sharp, a Confederate military railroad superintendent during the American Civil War and colonel and official of several railroad companies in the latter half of the nineteenth century.

The collection contains a United States Military Railroads receipt, issued to general freight agent William W. Tuttle at Nashville, Tennessee.

This collection contains the letterbook of Williams Carter Wickham, attorney, farmer, Virginia state senator, Hanover County supervisor, Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Company official, and Confederate brigadier general during the American Civil War, containing copies of letters regarding farm, business, political and personal matters.
